Vegan Mozzarella
I found an awesome, super quick, vegan mozzarella cheese recipe over at ‘Kindacademy.uk” on Instagram. I saw my friend make the recipe, and she really enjoyed it so I wanted to try it too. And I did! Starches
I start by adding soy milk to a bowl and warming it up to skin temperature. Then add in coconut oil and about thirty five grams of vegan butter. In a separate bowl I mix together all of the dry ingredients, nutritional yeast, a half tablespoon of mushroom seasoning, a teaspoon of lactic acid, a half teaspoon of salt, fifteen grams tapioca starch, five grams of potato starch, a gram of arrowroot starch, a gram of psyllium husks, a clove of garlic, then blend.
Blending
Blend on low for a moment to get it together but then we are going to blend it on high until the blender kind of heats it up. Next, pour this through a funnel into a small jar, it’s thick enough to hold on its own. At this point, we are going to use this mozzarella for a pizza! I got my pizza shell ready, and made some quick sauce.
Pizza Sauce
The sauce is just a can of crushed tomatoes, some olive oil, a little Italian seasoning, and a big pinch of salt. Normally I would add in some basil but I forgot it, it still turns out as a really good sauce. I blend that for a few moments until it is all mixed together. Next, pour this sauce onto the pizza shell, just enough to cover it up. I spread it out a little bit then add some olive oil over top and spread that too. Now toss this in the oven at 475º for a few minutes. You can just check on it to see when it’s done.
Taste Test
This cheese looks amazing. It’s perfect! And it is cheesier than the first version I made! It has a nice pull in your mouth. This cheese has a real mozzarella taste and feel to it. The original recipe is really good, I loved it. This could stay in your fridge for a few days and be used for whatever you want! Watch the full video here!
I Tried The Viral Super Quick Vegan Mozzarella
Ingredients
- soy milk
- coconut oil
- 35 grams vegan butter
- nutritional yeast
- .5 tbsp mushroom seasoning
- 1 tsp lactic acid
- .5 tsp salt
- 15 grams tapioca starch
- 5 grams potato starch
- 1 gram arrowroot starch
- 1 gram psyllium husks
- 1 clove of garlic
Instructions
- Add soy milk to microwave and warm it up. Add to blender along with coconut oil.
- In a bowl add nutritional yeast, mushroom seasoning, lactic acid, salt, tapioca starch, arrowroot starch, psyllium husks, garlic, then blend with milk and oil.
- Pour this through a funnel into a jar.
- Add sauce to pizza crust, then cheese and olive oil.
- Add to the oven at 475ºf for a few minutes. Enjoy!
Wow! This is the answer to my non-dairy cheese on pizza dreams! It was so simple and the taste was delicious! I am now trying to figure out where else this will taste good.
