Potato Bacon
I’ve made bacon out of just about everything. Today I’m going to make bacon from potato starch! For this recipe we will be using maple syrup, liquid smoke, paprika, mushroom seasoning, and beetroot powder. If you like this recipe you should check out this one too! and this one!

Ingredients
To get started I’m going to boil about two cups of water. While that gets boiling I have two bowls, one cup of potato starch in each bowl, one tablespoon of coconut oil in each bowl, then in my larger bowl I add one tablespoon of mushroom seasoning, half teaspoon paprika, one teaspoon beetroot powder, teaspoon liquid smoke, and a quarter cup of maple syrup. Give that a decent mix together.

Kneading
Once that water is boiling we are going to add three quarters of a cup of the water to the larger bowl. And I add a whole cup of water to the other bowl. Then I quickly mix in everything. I also add an additional half cup of starch to the larger bowl. Then start kneading the starch in the smaller bowl then the starch in the larger bowl. I add a touch of tapioca starch to each bowl and knead it in until it is smooth. Now we need to flatten it out to form our bacon. I put the starch from the larger bowl down first then the other right on top.

Cooking
I use a rolling pin to smooth and flatten them out together. Then I overlap and fold it over itself. Then I oil up my knife, get a pan nice and hot with oil in it. Next, slice the bacon. If you don’t use the whole slab you can freeze it! I add the bacon slices to the pan and once you see them turn clear then you can flip them. And they turned out awesome. The bacon flavor is amazing, it has the crunch and texture of bacon! You should give this potato bacon recipe a try! Watch the full video here!
