Microwave Corn
A little over a year ago, I released a video titled, “Don’t Boil Your Corn, You’ll Thank You!”. The comments on this video were wild. Most of these comments were regarding my microwave corn method. All I did was chop off the top, wrapped my corn in a wet paper towel and then I microwaved it for five minutes. According to the comments, my method was wrong. A majority of them said I didn’t need to cut anything off, I didn’t need to wrap it in anything, and I only needed to microwave it for two to three minutes. If you like this video be sure to check out this one too! and this one!
What Is The Best Technique?
But there were some comments that were saying we should have done it raw, you only microwave it for a minute, you just toss it into the microwave dry, a lot of people said you wet it, run it under cold water. So I wanted to try all of those microwave methods. I’m going to test raw, dry, wet, microwaved from one minute, two minute, three minute, and four minute. To find out, which version is the best microwaved corn.
To start I cut the raw corn, took the husk off, removed the hairs, I microwaved some vegan butter with salt, and brushed the corn with it (I did this for all of them). Then I slice the corn down the middle. The raw corn is not bad, it’s a little starchy but still nice and juicy. Next I am testing the wet method, which was microwaved for four minutes. This one is very likable, I’d rank it above the raw. Next I tried the dry corn microwaved for four minutes. This is better than the wet, it’s more firm, bouncy, and juicy. The next corn I tried was wet and microwaved for three minutes. This one is not much different from the other one.
The wet ones keep coming out softer, and not necessarily in a good way. Next up is the three minute microwave corn dry. This one looks great and it tastes the best so far. It is juicy, more flavorful, it has a nice crunch to it. Next is two minute wet corn, it looks good, and tastes good too! The two minute wet tastes like the three minute dry. Two minutes dry, is really good! It’s like the corn is getting juicier as we go. The raw one has been the juiciest so far though.
Last corn, wet one minute, this is good, but nothing crazy. The dry one minute corn is better than the wet. I think dry cooking is the better method. The best corn is the dry, microwaved for two minutes corn! The five minutes I did in the original video was far too long! The least amount of cooking microwave corn is better! (above a minute).
