Chickpea Bacon Bits
Today I will be making chickpea bacon bits! It’s an incredible snack on its own, but when used as a topping, they are even better. If you like this recipe, be sure to check out this one too! and this one!

Into the Oven
First we need a can of chickpeas. I’m going to drain it and save the aquafaba (the liquid inside the can). Then I rinse the chickpeas off, give them a little shake, add them to a bowl with a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of liquid smoke. Add these to your air fryer or toaster oven! At 425ºF for twenty minutes. Once they are all done I take them out of the oven and put them in a bowl. To them I add a teaspoon of garlic powder, teaspoon smoked paprika, teaspoon olive oil, teaspoon maple syrup, and a tablespoon of nutritional yeast.

Facts
Thirty five grams of bacon is going to get you twelve grams of fat, twelve grams of protein, thirty four milligrams of cholesterol. But thirty five grams of our chickpea bacon bits will come to 135 calories, 6 grams of protein, 5 grams of fat, 17 grams of carbs, and 4.8 grams of fiber.

Taste Test
Then I give those a toss and make sure everything is nice and coated. Give them a taste and make any flavor adjustments you may need! Then these are going to go back into the air fryer or toaster oven for about twenty minutes at 200ºF. When they are done I add the chickpeas back into their bowl with the leftover seasoning. Give them a little shake. These are amazing on their own, but I prepared a salad to use them as a topping. It tastes like a better bacon bit on the salad! So they are awesome as a topping or as a sweet candied bacon snack! Watch the full video here!
