This Pasta Dinner Weighs 2 Pounds and It’s Not a Cheat Meal

Spaghetti Dinner

This meal is 2 pounds of pasta, a legit spaghetti dinner and it’s only 600 calories. And I’m using real noodles, with a low calorie, low fat sauce. It tastes incredible! Let me teach you how to make it. if you like this recipe, be sure to check out this one too! and this one!

Sauce

I start with the sauce because it tastes the longest to cook. I will be using a can of San Marzano tomatoes, but before I get into that I chop up a quarter of a yellow onion pretty fine. Then I also finely chop a little garlic and add a touch (less than a teaspoon) of olive oil to a pan. Once the oil is hot I add the onions in, then the garlic and about two or three tablespoons of water and cover it. Once they’ve cooked and that water is mostly reduced I add in my can of tomatoes.

Pasta

Then while that is simmering I weigh out 150 grams of protein pasta. That alone gives us 509 calories. While we are waiting for the water to boil, I’m going to drain and rinse my hearts of palm. But you don’t have to do that, you can eat them as they are. Then I’m going to toss my pasta into the boiling water. I use some oregano and dried basil to season the tomato sauce. Then I make sure I crush up the tomatoes too. At the seven minute mark I’m going to add in the hearts of palm pasta and let it cook for about two more minutes.

Low Cal Pasta!

Once it’s all done I strain it and weigh it. The pasta comes to 690 grams. Then I add a bit of starchy water to the sauce and pour the sauce over the pasta. This two pound spaghetti dinner, is only 600 calories. I will probably not have this full serving, but the point is, you can! And it is so tasty. All together it’s 616 calories, 30 grams of protein, 4.7 grams of fat, 120 grams of carbohydrates, and 21 grams of fiber. You have to give this awesome but simple recipe a try!
