Toasted Pasta

So you are going to want to toast your pasta! Toasting pasta isn’t something new and there’s a lot of different versions and ways of doing it. You can toast every kind of pasta and it should add some flavor to your existing pasta recipe! This is toasted pasta and you could try making it! If you love this recipe, check out this one too! and this one!

Toasted Mac and Cheese

It’s lunch time so let’s make a quick toasted mac and cheese. I have a gluten-free daiya vegan mac and cheese in the cupboard so I’ll use that. To toast this pasta I just threw it onto a baking dish with a little olive oil, tossed it around, and then into the oven. I preheated it for 350ºf. Now I let them toast long enough to get my water boiling. I give the water some salt and about now the pasta is done.

Taste Test

Now toss the pasta right into the boiling water. On the box it says to boil this for about nine minutes, I took mine out a few minutes earlier though. Strain the pasta, then add the vegan cheese sauce, and plate it! This is very good and has a ton of flavor! It’s an awesome toasty, nutty, cheese flavor. The texture of the pasta did not change from the toasting. This elevates the mac and cheese! It’s more savory and rich in flavors! So it works with mac and cheese! Just toasting it with a little oil.

How To Toast Pasta

Again there’s a few different ways to toast your pasta. So I wanted to grab a basic Barilla spaghetti and toss it in a baking dish dry, no oil, and get it toasting. At 350ºf for about ten minutes this time. While you wait for this to toast, I suggest getting the water boiling and the sauce made. Then once the spaghetti is done I add it to my boiling water.

Spaghetti Sauce

I made a quick sauce, it starts with a pinch of olive oil in a hot pan, with some chopped up onions. Next I toss those around until they become translucent. Then add in some black pepper, salt, then as much garlic as you want (I used three or four cloves). I toss everything around for a second then add in a can of hunts diced tomatoes (these are not the tomatoes I would commonly use to make a spaghetti sauce, but this is just what I had). Also add in a can of tomato sauce and mix. I let this simmer together while I check the spaghetti.

Spaghetti Taste Test

After eleven minutes the spaghetti was cooked perfectly so that means it is time to add them to the sauce. Stir them around and coat them in the sauce then they are ready to plate! The bite, texture, and snap that this spaghetti has is awesome! It has such a nice toasty, nutty, sesame like taste. This is just different! It’s a different way to change up your old spaghetti recipe! You should totally give this a try! Watch the full video here!
