Easy Vegan Cheese
This is my vegan butter cheese recipe! This is a vegan cheese made from vegan butter and it has a nice buttery, rich, cheesy flavor! It is so incredibly easy to make and there’s only a few ingredients needed. This is one of the easiest vegan cheeses I’ve made and it only takes a few minutes to put it together and a few hours in the fridge resting time. Let’s get started. Vegan Butter Cheese
I picked up some miyoko’s creamery cultured vegan butter. I am using this one because I have had it before and it really tastes like butter. You should be able to use any vegan butter in this recipe. The first thing I do is melt a whole stick of that butter, or about a cup is what we need. Into this I add about half a teaspoon of sodium citrate, and whisk. I also want to thicken this up a bit and to do that I’m going to add a tablespoon of tapioca starch then whisk well! Next I add two teaspoons of agar agar powder into cold water, then I quickly whisk it in. Then I whisk the agar agar mixture into our butter cheese mixture.
Cook The Mixture
At this point all we are going to do is throw this into a saucepan. Put it on a low heat and continually whisk until it comes up to a simmer or you start to feel it really thicken. Once you get it to that point, quickly remove it from the heat. Have your bowls prepared, that you are going to be pouring this into. I’m just using two little take out containers. When my mixture is poured I then put them in the fridge for about an hour or two. This is going to be fairly soft, like a nice meltable cheese.
Time To Taste!
For this kind of cheese you should even be able to break it off and throw it on some pizza! After it has been solidifying in the fridge for a few hours I pop it out of the container and try to slice it. It slices great, easy! It is spreadable! Meltable! This stuff is great! Vegan Butter Cheese: The Best Cheese You’ve Never Tried
Ingredients
- 1 cup vegan butter
- .5 tsp sodium citrate
- 1 tbsp tapioca starch
- 2 tsp agar agar powder
Instructions
- Melt vegan butter then add in sodium citrate and whisk.
- Add tapioca starch and whisk.
- Add agar agar to cold water and whisk that together. Add this mixture to butter mixture then whisk.
- Add this to a saucepan. Put it on a low heat and continually whisk until it comes to a simmer or it thickens.
- Once you get to that point remove it from the heat. Pour your mixture into bowls then let them sit in the fridge for an hour or two.
- After it has sat, pop it out of the containers and enjoy!
