Ingredients

  • 3 potatoes
  • salt
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1.5 tbsp yeast extract
  • garlic powder
  • smoked paprika
  • black pepper
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1/4 onion
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • olive oil
  • .5 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp lactic acid
  • 1/4 tsp msg
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • bun
  • lettuce
  • tomato

Instructions

  • Fill pot with water, add salt.
  • Peel potatoes then slice them into steak fry-like shapes. Varying in size.
  • Put the potatoes in the pot and the pot on the stove and turn the heat up high.
  • Add in soy sauce, rice vinegar, and yeast extract. Mix well, lower heat a little then let boil for 15 minutes.
  • Strain potatoes (save liquid for later). Let potatoes rest for a little then break them apart by hand into different textures and sizes.
  • Let them sit on a lined baking sheet. Season them with garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
  • Preheat oven for 250ºf.
  • Put potatoes in and let cook for 2.5 hours.
  • In a cup add broth saved from earlier, liquid smoke, onion, garlic, and olive oil. Shake this up and allow it to rest in fridge for about 3 hours.
  • Add the potatoes to a container then get marinade and add the onions and garlic to the potatoes. Mix it together, then add some of the marinade liquid to potatoes too.
  • Shake everything good, then let it rest in the fridge.
  • Peel and chop potato. Toss into a steamer and let it steam for 15 minutes.
  • When they're done add them to a blender.
  • Also add to the blender the turmeric, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, lactic acid, msg, salt, nutritional yeast, cornstarch, and olive oil.
  • I start to blend while slowly adding in little bits of water to get it to the desired consistency.
  • Toss potatoes onto non-stick skillet with olive oil on medium heat.
  • Add a little water, and cover them up for a few minutes.
  • Pour cheese in and mix!
  • Prepare your sandwich. I added lettuce and tomato to mine. Add in the meat and cheese then enjoy!
