Boil Your Onions
So caramelized onions are a great topping, one of my favorite toppings for burgers honestly. But to make caramelized onions, it is a time investment. For me, I’m going to do at least four small or medium sized yellow onions, I like to chop them root to stem in half. Then you need to cook them for like an hour to get a true caramelized onion. What if we can make something that is different, has a lot of similar tastes, uses less oil, less salt, and is quicker! If you like this recipe be sure to check out this one too! and this one!

How To
Boiling your onions is really simple! I’m going to chop four onions root to tip, peel, and then slice them long ways. Toss them into a dry pan then cover with about a half cup of water per onion (two cups for me). I also added in a half teaspoon of salt then turned it onto a high heat and allowed it to come to a boil. After twenty minutes have passed I stir the onions around. Then I add a half teaspoon of olive oil to them.

Taste and Compare
Turn the heat to low and let them simmer until the rest of your food is done. But from here, they are ready to go! And they look awesome! I top my boiled onions on some burgers to taste! The boiled onions are really nice and spreadable! The boiled onions have a lot more flavor than caramelized onions! They have a butter soft texture, like an onion spread! This is so good, you have to give it a try! Watch the full video here!
