I tried the TIKTOK Potato Milk… then I turned it into Ice Cream (Shocked)

Did you know that you could make milk from a potato? Today I am going to teach you how to do so! Then once we make our milk, we are going to turn it into ice cream! Here’s the potato icecream recipe! If you like this recipe, be sure to check out this one too! and this one as well!

Turning the Potato to Milk

To start our milk, we need to soak some almonds. I grab about a quarter cup of almonds, cover them with hot water in a bowl. Then we get to boiling our potato, I peel it, cube it, then toss it right into the water so that it doesn’t start to oxidize. Typically when you are making a plant based milk, the recipe says to use one cup of the item you are turning into milk to three cups of water. I put my potato on the stove and bring the water to a boil. Once the water gets to a boil, I start a timer for fifteen minutes and check to see if they are fork tender.

After fifteen minutes I take my potatoes out and add them to a blender along with three dates, two cups of hot water, the almonds, and some cinnamon. I started to blend everything and it was very thick so I ended up slowly adding about four more cups of water. The texture should be like thick creamy milk. I then grab a bowl and a milk bag. I slowly pour the milk into the bag and squeeze it out.

Everybody Scream for Ice Cream

Now that we have our milk, we can turn it to ice cream! This milk is going to make a creamy, airy, smooth and delicious vanilla ice cream! To make this you need dry ice, but no ice cream maker. You have to be careful with the dry ice though, you can’t touch it or else it will burn you. Using a pair of tongs, I grab small pieces of the dry ice and put it into my blender. Put the lid on and pulse until it is smooth like snow. I take out any big clumps that don’t want to blend. Once we have our smooth snow texture I grab my large stand mixer. I’m going to be using the whisk attachment on the mixer.

I start with adding four cups of the milk to the mixer along with a tablespoon and a half of vanilla extract, and about a cup of sugar. The sugar helps turn it into a nice creamy texture. That’s all the ingredients I added into my ice cream, but you can add more if you’d like! After everything has mixed for a bit, I slowly add spoonfuls of the dry ice in and mix some more. I continue to add small amounts of the dry ice until I get the desired ice creamy texture. Then I add all my ice cream into containers, with no lid, into the freezer for a bit.

Grab your Favorite Spoon!

Once your ice cream firms up it’s ready to enjoy! It tastes just like vanilla ice cream! The color is light, almost white, and it scoops just like real ice cream. It’s light, airy, creamy, soft and perfect! This wasn’t hard to make and didn’t take too long either. You can of course top this with any of your favorite toppings, chocolate, caramel, whipped cream or whatever you prefer! I hope you enjoy your potato icecream recipe and share it with your friends and family! Watch the full video here!
