WOW – Tofu sloppy joes are Incredible… like REALLY good! I have always been obsessed with Sloppy Joes.. it’s one of my favorite sandwiches ever! Growing up my mom made it really simple, but it was the best! When I saw the video of @BrianLagerstrom making an elevated sloppy Joe I knew I had to try the recipe! But I was already working on another ground tofu recipe which will now come out later, so I switched gears and used it for the elevated vegan sloppy Joe recipe I made here and I am soooo glad I did!
and yes I had these for lunch and dinner for the next 3 days hahahah they were that good!

Sloppy JoFU tofu additions
Ingredients
- 2 Blocks Extra Firm tofu pressed
- 1 pinch salt
- 3 tsp marmite or Vegemite
- 1 tbsp molasses
Instructions
TOFU MEAT
- Drain and press your tofu and crumble into a large bowl
- add salt and 1 tsp marmite and mix well
- spread evenly on a lined baking sheet and bake in a preheated 250º oven (on convection if you have it) for about 30 minutes
- after 30 minutes toss the tofu, it should be drying out nicely at this point and then let it bake for another 30 minutes
Sloppy Joe Additions/changes See Brians recipe
- Once dried start cooking your peppers and onions like Brians recipe states then toss in the tofu
- The changes are removing Worcestershire with soy sauce and molasses
- Instead of the beef bullion im using 2 tsp marmite
- instead of beef broth im using veggie broth
