Burn your Spaghetti, You’ll Thank YOU!!

Burned Spaghetti

Burnt spaghetti has been all over the internet for at least a year. I’ve been wanting to try it out. It’s known in America as Spaghetti all’Assassina or assassin’s spaghetti. The version I am making today is based off of the one made by Not Another Cooking Show! If you like this recipe, check out this one too! and this one!

Prep Our Ingredients

First we just need a few ingredients for this. Some spaghetti, passata, a dried chili pepper, and olive oil. I grab about six or seven cloves of garlic, give them a quick smash, separate about three of them (we’ll need these later). I chop the rest of the garlic, and then the chili pepper (and save the seeds). To get this going we need three pans. First, our sauce pan. I add some olive oil in, get it over a medium heat and add in the chopped garlic. Give that a stir and allow it to come to a simmer.

Simmer It

Next I add in my full jar of passata then fill it about halfway with water, shake it up, and add that as well. Then a big pinch of salt, a shake of Italian seasoning, stir, and bring it to a simmer. For the spaghetti we need a large pan. And a small saucepan for hot water. I add in some olive oil and those chunks of garlic, then about twenty seconds later I toss in the peppers too. Now goes in the pasta. I let it cook for around a minute then I add in our sauce. I add in two ladles of sauce then one ladle of water. Let that simmer together.

Cook!

People say it needs to cook double the amount of time you’d regularly cook pasta. I cook mine for about twenty two minutes. You’ll start to see caramelization on the sides, once this happens we need to flip it over and give it a good mix. Now I add in another ladle of sauce and another of water. Continue to add these until the pasta is all cooked through! In the end I add in one last ladle of sauce then plate it!

I added a pinch of olive oil overtop of it and bam! This looks amazing. I also sprinkled on some vegan cheese. This has a little awesome kick to it! There’s a cool smokey taste. The sauce is great and it has a perfect tomato flavor. So rich and savory! Who would have thought, burnt spaghetti! Watch the full video here!
