Making TikTok’s SUPER VIRAL Marry Me Chicken, but BETTER

Marry Me Tofu

Today I will be making Marry Me Chicken, but entirely out of plants. I have seen “Marry Me Chicken” all over the internet for over a year now. Loads of different versions. Mine is going to be a heck of a lot more healthy, loaded with protein, low carb, and  just as good! Here’s marry me tofu! If you like this recipe be sure to check out this one too! and this one!

Tofu Prep

Let’s start with our main protein, extra firm tofu. Even though it is extra firm, I am going to go through a few steps to maybe make it a little firmer. So I drained my tofu, then tossed it into a tofu press while we prepare our sauce. In a blender I am going to combine a half cup of silken tofu, a quarter cup of nutritional yeast, three quarters of a cup of veggie broth, a pinch of salt, a squeeze of lemon juice, and a tablespoon of juice from sauerkraut. Now blend! Blend until it is nice and smooth and while it’s doing that, add in one to three cloves of garlic, and a teaspoon of olive oil. Set this aside.

Tofu Coating

Back to our tofu, remove it from the press. Next you want to slice it down the middle, then cut it into four filets (I cut mine into triangle like shapes). I pat them dry, cover them with a pinch of salt, and a paper towel then into the microwave for two minutes. Now I get a large cast iron skillet hot, over a medium heat. Add in a tablespoon of olive oil. Then in a bowl I add salt, pepper, garlic powder, two tablespoons of cornstarch, and a pinch of msg. Whisk that all together then coat the tofu pieces in it.

Tofu Cook!

Next we add our tofu to the skillet, cooking them on both sides, constantly flipping, until brown. Transfer the tofu over to a plate. Next to my chicken I’ll be having asparagus! Cover the asparagus in olive oil, and your favorite seasoning, for me, that is just salt, pepper, garlic powder, and a little smoked paprika. Pop those into the air fryer for three minutes at 400ºf. Then toss them around, and cook for three more minutes.

Back to the skillet, we need to add two tablespoons of oil to the pan. Then we add in two finely chopped cloves of garlic, one tablespoon of fresh thyme leaves and one tablespoon of crushed red pepper flakes. Toss that in the pan, let it cook for a moment. Now add in a half cup of chopped sun-dried tomatoes. Stir that around then add in our cream mixture. Bring that to a simmer, once it is simmering add the tofu back into the skillet, make sure it’s covered in the sauce and let that cook for about five minutes.

Enjoy!

At this point, the asparagus is done, pull that out and add it to a plate. I sprinkled mine with a little lemon juice. Now top it with the tofu, add some sauce, sprinkle on some fresh chopped basil and wow! It looks incredible. This Marry Me Tofu tastes amazing. It has a nice little spicy kick to it. The cream sauce is so delicious. All the flavors blend perfectly together. When you cut into it, it looks just like chicken! This is a great recipe that you need to try. Watch the full video here!
